Flint Knapping
Flint Knapping at Camp Arrowhead connects campers to one of the oldest crafts in human history — shaping stone into tools, blades, and arrowheads using nothing but focus, precision, and patience. Under careful instruction, boys learn how early peoples created cutting tools and points from materials like obsidian, chert, and glass. They’ll practice controlled strikes, safe techniques, and proper tool use as they craft their own handmade arrowheads or blades which they can then use at Bushcraft!
This activity blends history, art, and skill — teaching the value of patience and respect for traditional craftsmanship. Every spark, chip, and finished edge becomes a tangible reminder of what it means to create something real with your hands.
